Tracking and Reporting Outcomes Of Procedural Sedation (TROOPS)
A critical element of procedural sedation continuous quality improvement is the routine monitoring of sedation adverse events, efficacy, and other outcomes. Given widespread reporting variation, ICAPS has used their multidisciplinary consensus process to develop a standardized tool for this process. TROOPS is intended to document sedation outcomes for patients of all ages, and is applicable for all types of sedation providers in all locations worldwide. TROOPS is amenable for inclusion in either a paper or an electronic medical record, and is compliant with international standards (i.e., www.MedDRA.org).
Full details regarding the rationale and development process for TROOPS can be found in: Roback, et al: Tracking and reporting outcomes of procedural sedation (TROOPS): Standardized quality improvement and research tools from the International Committee for the Advancement of Procedural Sedation. British Journal of Anaesthesia 2018; 120:164-172.
